How to Use Audacity to Convert M4A to WAV

M4A stands for MPEG 4 Audio and is a filename extension used to represent audio files. Music purchased through the iTunes store has been in m4a format since 2007. It is compatible with Apple devices but cannot be used in many former portable devices and cannot be edited in many audio editors like Wavosaur, CoolEdit and more. It is also not an ideal format for storing.

Compared with M4A, Waveform Audio File Format, as a standard file format, with filename extension WAV, has higher compatibility. Converting M4A to WAV will preserve high quality sound as well as have high compatibility with more old and former portable devices and many audio editors. WAV format is also an excellent format for storing files.
