Apple complains that a good number of fake Apple product is being sold on Amazon’s US site. Apple gives a serious warning that the alleged fakes are potentially dangerous to users.
“Unlike genuine Apple products, they are not subjected to industry-standard consumer safety testing and are poorly constructed with inferior or missing components, flawed design and inadequate electrical insulation,” it said. Worse still, these fake products might get overheat, catch fire and deliver a deadly shock to consumers in any situation.
However, Apple is suing one of the vendors on Amazon instead of Amazon itself. In the meanwhile, people claim that Amazon should take most of the responsibility and Apple should be more aggressive in its effort to tackle the issue.
Amazon, being one of the biggest and most trustworthy companies in US, might be greatly impacted by this event. “Amazon has zero tolerance for the sale of counterfeits on our site,” an Amazon spokeswoman told the BBC. Although Amazon says it takes such matters seriously. However, people still get disappointed by this event. As you can see their comments below:
“Consumers, relying on Amazon.com’s reputation, have no reason to suspect the power products they purchased… are anything but genuine.”
“Amazon needs to do something about these fake products and fake reviews, because they’re starting to make their website almost unusable.”
Some people complained that they also bought other fake product on Amazon and do hope that Amazon should take action to deal with this kind of “shameful” situation.
