According to the Nielsen ratings of most-used apps on smartphones, the Apple Music app is ranked number nine, which beats its competitors – Spotify, Pandora, and other music services.
We all witnessed Apple Music’ success in 2015 and 2016. Originally launched in June of 2015, Apple Music has steadily attracted new users to show a 20 percent change since in 2016. The service has around 20 million paying subscribers, which is about one-fifth of the 100 million users of Spotify.
Among the top 10 smartphone apps, the apps with highest year-over-year change were Amazon App and Instagram, with 43% and 36% growth in users from 2015, respectively.
While the Apple Music app is available as a separate download on Android, it is mostly associated with iOS, as it comes with every iPhone sold.
In general, Apple Music can only be played on Apple’s own platform. To play Apple Music on other non-Apple devices like Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Sony Xperia Z5, HTC 10, Huawei Mate 9, Google Pixel, and so on, you might need to convert the DRM-ed music to MP3 with Apple Music Converter.
